We're now accepting players for our 2026–2027 Winter Hockey teams (2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013).

At ES Lions, we believe hockey is one of the most influential environments in a young person’s life, and we take that responsibility seriously. We are intentionally building a program where players are more than just roster spots; they are known, developed, mentored, and genuinely cared for as people throughout their hockey journey.
What's included on the ice:
- Minimum 2 practices per week
- 32-game schedule across Alberta
- Professional skills providers
- Dedicated goalie-specific training
And off the ice:
- Twice-weekly off-ice athletic training
- Ongoing classroom workshops
- One-on-one mentorship
- Ongoing team and individual video analysis
- Player baseline testing to track growth from start to finish
- Intentional focus on confidence, mindset, mental growth, emotional wellness, and leadership development throughout the season.
Not local to the Edmonton area? We offer billeting opportunities for out-of-town players, pairing athletes with vetted host families so they can be part of something special without the distance being a barrier.

After years of trusted service with our Spring programs, we are thrilled to extend this partnership year-round.
In addition to their elite on-ice development, The Defensive Edge will also lead our off-ice strength training program, helping athletes grow stronger, faster, and more resilient.
Led by Ian Barteaux, whose passion and energy inspire young athletes to give their very best, The Defensive Edge continues to help players build better habits, develop explosive speed, increase stamina, and strengthen both body and mind, becoming the best version of themselves on and off the ice.
